DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTALLATION
O-Team Theatre invites you to a daytime visit to the installation, which will create a performance space where the performance of “Night Piece N°7” will take place at night. The space of a performance, that begins late in the evening and ends in the morning with shared breakfast, resembles a large student dormitory or hostel with many beds prepared for the guests. The experimental format of the event combines elements of object theatre, ritual, concert, performance and staged exhibition, or immersive art installation. The performance space “Night Piece N°7” is a transcendental dream laboratory, where you can explore the blurred areas suspended between sleep and wakefulness, dreaming and reality.
The installation can be visited in order to immerse oneself into the materials collected by the creators, related to the subject of night, sleep, dreams and rituals. While we use the day for productive and conscious activities, the night defines other spaces, unknown, mysterious, amazing - areas that cannot be strictly conceptualized. At night we fall out of the routine of everyday life, we enter a state of differently intensified attention, feelings and thoughts. In ancient times, there was a custom of spending the night in selected temples, in order to receive answers from the gods or healing during sleep. This was called temple sleep. It is the incubation of dreams, or a type of dream pilgrimage.
The O-Team Theatre invites viewers to the installation to contemplate the state of tiredness, unproductivity and dreaming, which make us more open, insightful and sensitive, as well as to contemplate the state of rest in which dreams are born.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTISTS
O-Team - has been active since 2007 and has gradually developed into a professional performance and theatre company. The core team consists of the artistic directors - Nina Malotta and Samuel Hof. Other permanent members of the team include production manager Lisa Ticar, dramaturge Antonia Beermann and graphic designer Markus Niessner. O-Team collaborates regularly, in particular with the puppeteer Antje Töpfer and the actor Folkert Dücker. O-Team is based in the Stuttgarter Wagenhalle Art Association and cooperates closely with the Stuttgart theatres - Rampe and FITZ. To date, they have created 30 projects that have been presented at guest performances and festivals in Germany and abroad. In often interdisciplinary line-ups, they mostly work in visual formats. The form of the projects ranges between performance, puppet theatre and immersive formats. They see their work as cutting-edge theatrical research for the innovative further development of contemporary performing arts - subversive, poetic and intellectual.
The independent theatre group develops scenic states of emergency and theatrical rituals that challenge the audience. The form of the projects develops from the focus on content and in engagement with the chosen physical material. Sometimes science fiction sets meet Greek temples on stage, sometimes sex robots meet actors. Sometimes a car crashes into a toilet in a public space, sometimes there is a whole night of performances for sleeping people.
Event financed from the funds of the Foundation for Polish-German Cooperation.
