DESCRIPTION OF THE INSTALLATION
“PlastSupper” is a sensory event that explores the complex and increasingly problematic relationship between humans and plastic. Through tactile, experiential activities, the artists demonstrate how deeply plastic has penetrated our daily lives, our environment, and even our bodies. The title - a play on words referencing The Last Supper - evokes a moment of critical reckoning: an ironic feast that highlights the pressing problem of plastic pollution, its ubiquity, and the unhealthy, physical intimacy that arises between us and this synthetic material.
The project poses provocative questions: What in our lives today is truly natural, and where does the line between the organic and the artificial lie? Plastic - though derived from natural resources such as crude oil - has spread throughout ecosystems and human organisms, blurring these boundaries. Its microscopic particles, present in blood, tissues, and bodily fluids, call into question our health, well-being, and relationship with our own physicality.
INFORMATION ABOUT THE ARTISTS
Dominika Sobolewska - Interdisciplinary artist, designer, curator, and university professor affiliated with the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. She explores the intersections of mindful and discursive design, art, socially engaged practices, and simple interactive technologies, introducing a processual and ritualistic dimension to them. In both her creative practice and teaching, she emphasises conscious participatory actions, post-growth design, and co-creation, leaving room for interdisciplinary exchange, education, and collective creativity. Her latest projects focus on exploring the relationship between humans and nature, on coming to terms with environmental phenomena, and on artistic interventions for the environment.
Michalina Kostecka - visual artist and graduate of the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław. She works in the fields of food art, photography, object art, performance, video, and installation. Her practice is process-oriented and intuitive, often evolving in the context of specific places and encounters. She is interested in multisensory experiences and the community-building potential of culinary practices. She explores symbolic and ritual meanings. She is the founder of the plant-based brand Plantera, which serves as an extension of her artistic practice in the realm of participatory and workshop-based activities.
